download "A SOLDIER'S BURDEN" for free

Happy 2013! I'd like to start off the New Year with a present to you: Here's a brand new song from me available now as a free download. I am very excited to give you my new single "A Soldier's Burden" Growing up with my Father being a veteran of the Vietnam War and hearing stories from him and from other loved ones who have served or are currently in the military I was inspired to write this song. I can't say I know what it's like firsthand to fight on the front-lines but I definitely tried to pay tribute to those who have in my own way. I wrote this song with my gifted friend Benjamin Romans and recorded it in the hills of Los Angeles, California with an amazing band of players (who I'll tell you more about soon). My pals the Heavy Young Heathens engineered & mixed the song and wow did they do a fantastic job. If the song moves you then please share it with anyone who might like it. I'd be delighted if you did - in fact, few things would make me happier.

Update time: A lot of you have been asking me on instagram, facebook, and twitter for a while now what I've been up to and when the new record is coming. I'm not a huge fan of talking about myself so I'll try and keep this short but 2012 was a very unique year for me - with everything from the biggest haircut of my life and accompanying freakout of my friends... to the total surprise and craziness of having done the music for a number one movie at the box office... to the polar opposite of a short but vexing dry spell of personal songwriting... to everything in between. Truth is, most of 2012 I was holed up like a hermit in the recording studio, emerging only occasionally for coffee or to walk my dog Waylon. I have to say, though, that it was a really productive year as far as recording is concerned and I definitely did end up getting over said songwriting dry spell with good ol' fashion Pittsburgh-style hard work. For the majority of the first half of '012 I was writing and tracking a new album that I'm really proud of with a fantastic group of players (and a few songs by my lonesome) as well as coming up with a nice-sized pile of b-sides and rarities that may or may not see the light of day. I've also been spending a great deal of time on my other and much newer gig composing music for movies - really just learning the ropes of a new trade if you wanna' know the truth. I'll be unveiling a lot more music and news in the near future and I'll probably start tweeting more tidbits and lyrics and details about this new album of mine too so don't be a stranger and you know I'm pretty accessible on the web so holler if you have any questions.

Lastly, I dropped the price of every single item in my online store by a good bit just in case you have any leftover holiday money burning a hole in your pocket. check it out.

Here's to you and your new year! I hope you enjoy the new song and in 2013 I hope you'll always follow your heart and be inspired every day.

with sincere thanks and a high five,
